Dear Brand Marketers

How many followers you have does not matter. I repeat how many followers you have does not matter. Who is following you that like what you Tweet about does! Better yet who has influence about what you Tweet about and can Tweet drop about your brand is priceless.

I wanted to start with an open message to brand marketers who are essentially really not just that into Twitter. That is if you consider visiting Klout.com or checking their Twitter.Grader.com scores. If you want to make money on Twitter you have to understand the importance of Twitter as a branding and marketing tool. First off, Twitter is not a place for only self promotions which is what most brands are doing. They only Tweet about their promotional products, offers, and services.

Expecting people to run out and go buy. While it may be social media networking it is still the real world. You can’t expect to get something for nothing and offering promotions without giving something back to the social media community is not how it is done.

Twitter is becoming a content revenue building engine. What if you engaged on Twitter and people knew who you were from Tweets that they saw related to your brand? Would it still matter to you so much about the number of people you get to follow you or the level of influence that your brand awareness held?

@WineBrain

So Tweet dropping is the new black and every brand wants it. But the problem is most still don’t know how-to go about getting people to drop a Tweet about them. In order to gain influence brands have got to start being more engaging. Every single Tweet counts because every time you Tweet you are being graded for the world to see on sites like Klout.com and Twitter.Grader.com etc.

Does it matter to you if someone follows you on Twitter and you have no power to influence their buying and purchasing decision? It should matter because that follower is considered a worthless online social media networking friendship and you should either do something about it or end it.

Who has the power to influence someone to Tweet drop about your brand? Twitter profiles that have influence related to specific goods, products, and services are extremely valuable. Now, lately I have seen some really, really bad pitching attempting to Tweet drop. How can someone with no clout really gain influence and clout for your brand on Twitter? Take the time to review the grades for Twitter profiles of your PR firm executives and see just how influential they really are.

Tweet dropping means I don’t need to follow you! I only need to Tweet about you and have influence related to goods, products, and services you offer. Before you can move anyone to Tweet drop about your brand you have to engage. Once you engage you create credibility for your brand and gain influence.
