Not again, again Venus and Serena Williams will battle for another Championship title against one another. This time Venus Williams is the defending champion at the Sony Ericsson Championships.
Recognize that the Williams brand is one of the strongest and most powerful in sports and media. As the defending champion Venus defeated Jelena Jankovic, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, in one semifinal Saturday at the Sony Ericsson Championships in Doha, Qatar. Caroline Wozniacki retired against Serena trailing by 6-4, 0-1, because of an apparent abdominal injury.
Don’t call it a comeback please! Serena again, again secured the year-end No. 1 ranking this week. Serena is returning to the final of the tournament for the first time since 2004. The ladies will battle for the Sony Ericsson Championships title today. Win or not Serena will close out 2009 as the No. 1 women’s player in the world.
