Consider today a win for BlackBerry Curve who tooted their horn about being the best selling consumer smartphone. Was this a smart move? You bet; now be prepared for Apple Inc to turn up the publicity buzz on the iPhone.
According to Reuters, research in Motion Ltd’s BlackBerry Curve moved past Apple Inc’s iPhone in the first quarter to become the best-selling consumer smartphone in the U.S., research group NPD said on Monday.
No easy defeat, the iPhone remained the top selling consumer smartphone in the U.S. holding down both third and fourth quarters of 2008. The BlackBerry Curve came in second place followed by Centro from Palm Inc in third place.
Smartpphones will battle it out in branding exposure to find their target audiences to maintain the #1 slot. After all BlackBerry Curve’s publicity win proves that being #1 brings a lot of creditability.
