Tween sensation Miley Cyrus is not going to let some photo scandals and catty videos stand in her way! Miley will land at #1 on the U.S. pop charts today with the strongest appearance in her career. According to Billboard “Breakout” her standalone (without Disney) CD selling at 371,000 copies.
This lands Miley Cyrus at the second-highest debut by a female artist in 2008, falling under Mariah Carey which her debut week produced 463,000 copies sold. Miley beat out Madonna and Janet Jackson. Which Madonna’s “Hard Candy” sold 280,000 copies when it debuted earlier this year, and Janet came in with 181,000 copies back in March of 2008.
Cryus hints that she is about to leave her role as “Hannah Montana” behind. Miley was in the tabloids again, this time for a YouTube video that poked fun at Disney newcomers Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato, for which she has apologized.
