A creepy real estate trend is expanding, looks like turning old mental hospitals into luxury hotels is becoming poplar. According to Luxist this trend started happening in Massachusetts and New York, now the next state to turn a former mental health facility into quality real estate is Kentucky.

Charles and Tina Mattingly are looking to convert a mental hospital which they purchased in 2001 for $225,000 into a luxury hotel. The couple plan to actually keep Waverly Hills as a ghostly theme during the $18 million renovation. Planning an eco-friendly hotel with a solar-powered electric system, geothermal heating, a parking structure with a rooftop garden and floors made of either cork or recycled rubber.

This presents an excellent opportunity to receive some major press and branding exposure in a creepy matter.
