BETHPAGE, N.Y (MosnarCommunications.com Jewelry Designers) – The Lustgarten Foundation, London Jewelers and David Yurman today announced the creation of a David Yurman signature pendant in support of the fight against pancreatic cancer, America’s fourth-leading cause of cancer deaths. The signature design will be unveiled today at a private reception at London Jewelers’ Americana Manhasset location. Pendant creator and distinguished designer, David Yurman, will make a special appearance.

The sterling silver and amethyst pendant, with signature David Yurman cable detail, on a 16″ box chain, retails for $295. The design will also be available in 18k gold, retailing at $1700.  The pendant will be available in the Fall 2010 at all London Jewelers’ locations or can be ordered starting today by calling London Jewelers at 1-877-601-9924. Orders for the pendant will also be taken at The Lustgarten Foundation’s 10th annual Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk on Sunday, July 25 at Nassau Community College in Garden City, New York. Net proceeds from the sale of the pendant will benefit The Lustgarten Foundation’s efforts in the fight against pancreatic cancer.

With an overall survival rate of just five percent, pancreatic cancer is a disease with no prevention, no early tests and, unless detected in its early stages, no cure. It also receives far less attention and funding than other cancers. The Lustgarten Foundation works to advance scientific and clinical research related to the diagnosis, treatment, cure and prevention of pancreatic cancer. Thanks to a multi-year commitment by Cablevision Systems Corporation to underwrite all of The Lustgarten Foundation’s administrative expenses, 100% of all donations received by the Foundation goes directly to pancreatic cancer research.

The Lustgarten Foundation was founded in 1998, following the diagnosis of Cablevision executive Marc Lustgarten, who died from pancreatic cancer in 1999. In 2008, London Jewelers lost general manager, Michael Spevak, to pancreatic cancer.

Said Mark Udell, London Jewelers chief executive officer, “Having lost a beloved friend and valued member of the London Jewelers team, Michael Spevak, we understand all too well the devastating impact of pancreatic cancer. We are proud to team up with The Lustgarten Foundation in the fight against this disease, knowing that 100% of all donations to the Foundation go directly to pancreatic cancer research.

Lustgarten Foundation Executive Director Kerri Kaplan said: “All of us at The Lustgarten Foundation are extraordinarily honored and grateful to have the support of such distinguished friends as David Yurman and London Jewelers for the creation of a signature pendant in recognition of the fight against pancreatic cancer. This special effort holds the potential to raise significant funding for urgently needed pancreatic cancer research.”

Designer David Yurman said: “As someone who has suffered a personal loss to pancreatic cancer, I applaud The Lustgarten Foundation’s commitment to advancing our understanding of this deadly disease. I am proud to lend my name and design to this worthy cause.”

  1. Hey there! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this site? I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at options for another platform. I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
