The world’s largest cosmetics maker L’Oreal is under major fire over the #4 ranked World’s Most Powerful Celebrities, Beyonce Knowles. L’Oreal features Beyonce in an AD with a lighter skin appearance than her natural golden bronze tone.

TMZ started a buzz surrounding the subject that quickly prompted the cosmetic company to release a statement on Thursday denying that the singer’s skin was digitally lightened in an ad appearing in the September issues of Elle, Allure and Essence magazines.

According to Paris based L’Oreal, released in a statement sent to the Associated Press through Beyonce’s representative, “We highly value our relationship with Ms. Knowles. It is categorically untrue that L’Oréal Paris altered Ms. Knowles’ features or skin tone in the campaign for Feria hair color.”

A representative for Beyonce said that they would have no further comment beyond L’Oreal’s statement.

The representative for Elle said magazine ads are reviewed before they are printed but wasn’t sure of the procedure for checking content. The representatives for Essence and Allure magazines were not available for comment.
