Actor Brad Pitt has went under media fire before concerning his 3 year old daughter Zahara’s hair. It seems that Brad made many people in the black community very angry when he made a comment about Zahara’s hair in Esquire Magazine in 2006
Pitt refers to Zahara as Z, “For white people who might be having a little trouble with black- person hair, Carol’s Daughter is a fantastic hair product. We got it for Z. Now her hair has this beautiful luster. And it smells nice, too.” — Brad Pitt, Esquire Magazine, 10/06.
My daughter Charm is 2 and turns 3 this month has very extremely curly African American texture hair. While I am African American I have the hardest time keeping Charm’s hair moisturized! And I still have trouble with Charm’s black person curly hair. Charm is not mixed but she has similar texture hair of children often mixed with African American decent.
I am sure that Brad and Angelina Jolie also have a hard time keeping Zahara’s hair moisturized. African American hair is dry by nature and requires a lot of extra care for moisture. Factor in curly hair and you have to work even harder to keep it moisturized.
Brad and Angelina are under constant media watch concerning Zahara’s hair. BlackCelebKids.com recently ran a post about Brad and Zahara’s recent outing and Zahara’s hair was mentioned in the post.
Charm’s Curly Hair Secrets:
1. We must use a product that is non-drying to keep Charm’s hair moisturized. I recommend the following products.
Favorite: Africa’s Best Kids Organics Shea Butter Detangling Moisturizing Hair Lotion. You can get this at Walgreens for $3.49!
Second Favorite: Mixed Chicks cost $10.99 – $38.33
Big Favorite, too: Carols Daughter Hair Milk!! Cost $12.00 – $18.00
2. It is not necessary to wash Charm’s hair but once a week. Detecting from the texture, Zahara’s hair most likely should only be washed once a week also. The hair must receive a deep conditioning and detangling agents.
3. Every night we part Charm’s hair in four sections and braid the hair in four plats. Making sure to put a little water on the hair and adding moisturizing product to the ends.
